A Farewell Letter from Paychi Karen Guh
Paychi Guh FW26/SS27 Collection will be our Farewell Collection.
My 2025 was filled with epic adventures, happiness, great sadness, and so much love. Every key event and countless little moments all contributed to my decision to call FW26 Paychi Guh’s Farewell Collection.
After years of pondering, I finally skipped spring delivery starting 2025 to travel more during Spring/Summer. In April/May, my husband Steve and I spent 24 days in Africa, traveling from Victoria Falls to various Safari camps in Botswana to Cape Town. In July, we headed to Costa Rica for 2 weeks.
The happiest times arrived in August when my entire family of 15 (5 siblings, our spouses, and 3 kids) gathered at my parents’ place in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. The once-a-year Family Reunion became extra precious since Covid because 11 of us traveled from Taiwan, Seattle, Toronto, and LA to Vancouver to spend time with my parents and one another. We ate, chatted, played mahjong, and enjoyed everyone’s company.
By the end of family reunion, my mother had 2 visits to the ER within a few days and was diagnosed with incurable stage 4 stomach cancer. She was 86 and had been healthy. We were all so shocked. Everyone revised travel plans multiple times. Seeing my mom declined rapidly and knowing the end was near broke my heart. However, I am so thankful that we could lean on each other during the toughest days. My mother left us peacefully with help from MAiD (Medical Assistance in Dying program) with all of us by her side 8 weeks later on October 21.
My Dad is 96. He sometimes still asks where mom is before he remembers she is gone. It will be their 60th wedding anniversary next month. I can’t even imagine how my dad really feels about losing her. This was never the plan they seriously joked about. Now, us 5 siblings take turns to care for my dad in Vancouver. Our family has been closer than ever.
Since last August, I have been spending lots of my days in Vancouver, staying in “my room” in my parents’ house since 1991. Steve, the most supportive husband, has been driving back and forth from Seattle to Vancouver a lot. Around the end of 2025, we realized that it is time to move to Vancouver for the next chapter of our lives. Our son, Matthew, is invited to come with us if he chooses to. Hence the farewell collection for Paychi Guh.
Life goes on. Steve, Matthew, and I will visit Galapagos Islands and mainland Ecuador in April as the college graduation celebration for Matthew.
I still remember the moment I decided to focus on cashmere, my absolute favorite raw material, for Paychi Guh back in 2012. I thought if I could not sell anything, I would at least just wear them myself. Fast forward to 2026, I have saved boxes of my favorite pieces over the years to wear for the rest of my life 🙂 Jokes aside, I am so grateful to all the buyers and all our direct customers who have bought and loved Paychi Guh. Your generous praise throughout the years fuels my creativity and energizes Tiffany and I to do better every day. I hope you will be enjoying your Paychi Guh pieces for years to come.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart. 💜
